Too bad politicians/government "officials" listen to the talk of "babbling" money and ignore, forget, overlook, and destroy history and traditions. This tourist railroad brought in tax dollars to the state of New York from tourists, and now the "politicians" are going to take that revenue away from their own coffers for a $30 million dollar bike trail that won't bring in as much tax revenue as this tourist line has. I don't understand the thinking of people in "power" who lose all common sense when they get into a position of "authority" and listen to lobbyists and developers to destroy a good thing that brings in more tourists than a hiking/biking trail. Show me ONE rail-trail example that is busy on a daily basis and brings in a lot of people at one time like a tourist train can. If you can - than that rail-trail was a smart investment - otherwise, you would be lucky to find 40 to 50 people on that trail on the same day and at the same time like they would be on a passenger train on a tax supporting tourist line. Shame that this beautiful line, and this beautiful train will no longer operate over this historic and profitable line.
