I noticed that there are no electronic crossing signals in the photo. This is a very interesting grade crossing - Google street view (8/2017, after BUFFIE took the shot) shows a mere 'cross-buck' here governing a divided highway. But there's a traffic light here as well for traffic AND a traffic light for approaching trains at the highway crossing - a yellow vehicle traffic light! (It must work fine, otherwise I'm sure a lawsuit would have dictated a change by now).

The traffic lights work because it is just an industrial spur that ends in Lafayette (about 2 miles). It was once part of the CB&Q's branchline to Lyons, but the section between Lafayette and Longmont was pulled up years ago.
