The former ATSF main line between Chicago and Kansas City was all two main tracks for most of its existence, except for this bridge. None of the relatively recent efforts to make the whole line from Chicago to California two main tracks was east of Kansas City, where they already had two main tracks (again, EXCEPT for this bridge). I'd love to see them build a two main track bridge to eliminate this bottleneck. Maybe even add a new two main track bridge and retain this one to turn a bottleneck into an asset!
