Both of these units would encounter problems as this train returned as Train 6 of July 5. The 180 had an issue requiring it to be set out in Nevada. I boarded the train in Glenwood Springs on the 6th and by then it was 10.5 hours late. It sported the 147 and a UP unit when it picked me up. The UP unit was dropped in Denver and 147 set out on its own only to break down east of Ft. Morgan, CO. Another long delay ensued, we got another P42 dropped in Denver by Train 5 and raced the next day's Train 6 to Chicago; arriving 24:24 late, about an hour ahead of the next Train 6. A dedicated dining car crew, an affable sleeping car attendant, and a bottle of good whiskey in the carry on made this into an adventure rather than an ordeal.
