The LRC locomotives were notoriously unreliable, especially in winter (unforgivable in Canada) and the tilting mechanism didn't work well so was shut off most of the time. If you had one of these pulling your train on a cold day, you could count on being late. The carriages themselves are more comfortable than the rickety Budd cars VIA also currently runs, with far better seating. As with all VIA trains, though, they are showing their age.
