Looked online for inflation calculators and found one which went back as far as 1860, that's not quite 1847 but is close enough to play with. According to it, that $1,637 is now worth $49,550 and change. I'd wager that building a duplicate of the covered bridge today would cost more than that, perhaps quite a bit more; just building the stone piers might cost more than that.
