At first glance, I thought this was a GG-1 with a temporary fabric cover. So, does the other side of this slug have a traction motor blower duct?

You know, I honestly don't think I've ever seen the "engineers" side of the RPU6D. The north end of the yard, you can only be on the "conductors" side in terms of not trespassing. The two times I seen them at the south end of the yard from the bridge, a good shot of the engineers side wasn't available due to cars on the track next to it.
