I'm guessing that the Alexandria tourism dept. wont be using using this photo in their promotional material anytime soon, Great Photo!

Very interesting shot, Mark! Gives us more insight to a place where the majority of us will never see. Maybe this is that 'place' that my old company commander in the navy told us recruits we would be sent to if we messed up -'BFE!' "If you don't know, don't ask."

Fascinating insight into a part of the world most of us will likely never see in person. Thanks for sharing. Picture tells quite a story!

Since I am a telecommunications engineer, the cable line of some sort running from the upper left across the track and down to the building at the lower right caught my interest. It is a relatively small cable. Sure looks strange. In the US, any crossing of a RR right of way under or over has to be with the express per mission of the RR. Had a lawyer tell me once that if the railroads could, they would require the airlines to get permission to fly over them. It is all about $$$$$$.

Carlyle - I’m fairly certain there’s something similar in UK laws regarding running wires over railway lines, although I highly doubt it’s a rule (or at least not enforced) in Egypt!
