Marshalltown to Steamboat Rock was abandoned and torn out by the Iowa River Railroad. The rails are still in place from just north of Steamboat Rock to Ackley, where the IARR interchanges with the CN. The only customer on the line is an ethanol plant north of Steamboat Rock.

Thanks for the info, Dylan. Really liked this line, though I only got to see it 3-4 times. I guess even in 1981 it wasn't doing great.

It has been converted into a nice bike trail. If you are ever in the area check it out. There are some large and impressive bridges over the Iowa River you can walk/bike over.
