I was raised in Trinidad, Colorado and at one time it was a busy place. Santa Fe ran 2 "chief" passenger trains and usually 4 to 8 freights a day. The Rio Grande ran 4 coal trains a day from the mines West of Trinidad using trackage rights on the C&S / Santa Fe and the Colorado & Wyoming. Prior to 1970 the C&S ran 4 to 6 trains a day and after 1970 Powder River coal added an average of 10 to 12 more. The Santa Fe yard was pretty good sized as was the C&S yard. Now almost all of it is gone. There also was some pretty interesting track work at Wooton as well as Raton but as with Trinidad it is all gone as well.
