What's the tan structure on the right right ? Looks like it used to be some kind of Railroad loading passthru

That is an old coaling tower. I live in Grand Rapids and have see this for over 15 years. What condition is this loco in as far as restoration? I guess it would involve lots of work and money = over a million $$ these days. Cosmetically, the loco still looks pretty good. Note the very high water levels on this Lake Michigan inlet on the mouth of the Grand River.

It's a coaling tower. When locomotives were all steam they needed a way to dump coal into the Gondolas. They'd park the Gondolas under them and fill them with coal.
