Roger Lalonde's photo 727018 on RP.NET shows the long hood of the 190 with it's second set of horns in this case another Nathan M-5 on the long hood. Milwaukee Road had similar mountings only the Milwaukee had just a single tone honker on each side of the cab or one each way on the cab roof. Remember in those days you still had to call out and call in the flagman with the whistle.....rules did not allow you to use the radio even if you had one. Horns were also used in the direction you were going in way freight service......back in those days horns were placed facing the crossings you were approaching..........

Extra 127 south has a photo of the 198 and 194 which clearly shows the two M5's on the 198 and an M5 and a Leslie S5T on the 194......BOY....I sure wish I could've heard this RR in it's early diesel hey-day.....specially the covered wagons with the duel M's and H5 whistles and the duel Leslies.....it must have been something!
