Posted by Georg Trüb on July 31, 2020  "Flirt" is the designation of this train family by StadlerRail and means "Flinker Leichter Innovativer Regional Triebzug" or "agile light innovative regional trainset". Nowadays, the "i" stands for "intercity" instead of "innovative". Since 2004, Stadler sold more then 1700 of this train family.
