Wow, they are still there! They’ve been there as long as I be going to Richlands, at least 40 years. I believe the right one is an old storage mail car.

This was my first time ever being in Richlands and no one has ever told me about them. Also, a very good spot to shoot at considering it's right next to the road.

Goggle street view from the bridge in the background shows docks on the other side of these relics. Apparently being used by the railroad for some type of material storage. If they are ever moved, it ought to be interesting to see what it takes to release the brakes..

I believe from the old number on the side (239) that this may actually be an old EF class express car. The door has been modified. I am a fan of the REAL old passenger trains. Most pre-Amtrak trains had an amazing cornucopia of head-end cars and a mixed bag of passenger equipment as well. These things most modelers copy existed only on the first day or when the company wanted publicity photos.
