As a person who is not a morning person, thank you for being able to get out of bed so early and get shots like this.

This was a high investment effort for sure. My group that worked this met at the Village Inn at Highlands Ranch, CO at 0300 and left for Canõn City, CO to arrive at Parkdale by 0530 for the departure of the Rock Train. I left my home at 0200 or so. 6 hours of driving all during a travel ban in late March and early April on each attempt. We had to discover the schedule that gave us the heritage unit on the point which was an every other day scenario. We only came up empty 2 times out of 11 total trips. I would do it all over again. Well worth capturing this.

Looking at this photograph reminds me of a time long gone when my father worked MOW for Southern Railway out of Meridian, Mississippi. He would collect some of the insulators off of the code lines that were being decommissioned and bring them home. They were made of glass and of various colors but, generally of a blue-green tint. We inverted them on a base to make them into candle holders and also wind chimes.

One of the all time BEST Heritage locomotives, for any Railroad. Most excellent photo, Erik. PCA for me.
