As an eternal fan of weird diesels, that is the most gloriously bizarre monster-of-a-locomotive as I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to see it set up properly with its trucks and trimmings fully attached!

Interesting creature. Looks like a repurposed F45 cab. Would be interesting to have some information about this locomotive.
|
What is it ?
|
It was rebuilt by Motive Power & Equipment Solutions in Greenville, SC from a Morrison Knudsen F40PHL-2, one of these:

Just under the 1202 number below the cab window is: F40NG . Is this an F40 body and power plant,
built for the D&SNG ??

We need an ingenious nickname.

I hope they are only going to use this loco as a switcher.
|
While it might be appropriate in this case, you can't use FNG...it's already taken. :-)

Because of fire danger from coal smoke, the Durango & Silverton recently bought a few diesels.

It's missing a little something in the name on the hood....&
