It's a frustrating paradox. Dealing with an assumed context of pre-modern diesels, I've always overall found C-C models more interesting/appealing than B-B. This seems to be a common railfan impression (think how some of the most popular "special" older diesels are the RSD-15, AS-616 and SDP45, for example). However, scenes like this which were routine then point out that the mix of B-B and C-C on the post-steam but pre-modern North American scene was critical.
