Neat catch and info! Metra passenger rail had 2 six axles units stored for emergencies, but I think they were SDP45s. Perhaps they are gone now since ridership has plunged since the virus. Can anyone verify that?

Two SDP40F hulks reside at the DOT test center near Pueblo, CO, though heavily modified with test prime movers and fitted with all sorts of instruments. Those units are formerly #509 and #609.
The Metra units are known as F40C; I am unaware of their latest disposition.
