On July 10, 2007, I was leaving our ocean terminal in Houston and passed a line of 5 dead U boats awaiting export to Brazil. They carried NREX reporting marks. But something looked familiar so I stopped to take a look. Sure enough, NREX 4180 (in the photo above) was sitting there along with sister 4167. Having ridden behind (or in front of) U34CH's on the Montclair branch for years, it was a surprise to see them in Texas. My company carried hundreds of locomotives, both new and used, around the world. So it was exciting and nostalgic to see one that I was likely very closed to 30 years earlier.
