Nothing is more disappointing -- no, downright frustrating, than when a railroad adopts a patch job as their livery. Interestingly, and even more frustratingly, the first other examples I can think of also involve old GEs: LS&I abandoning red for ex-BN green and Georgia Central abandoning gray for ex-NS black. With these three roads making a large portion of latter-day U-series users, you were almost out of options for finding U-boats in any actually interesting and attractive livery.

Let's not forget the Nashville & Eastern. Those green and yellow U boats were beautiful. Nice catch, Doug. All I ever did was photograph the PICK Baldwin sitting by the concrete plant a couple of times. This branch was near death by the time I got into shortlines in the late 1990s.
