I tried to visit the "Mountain on the Prairie" (the slag heap that provides a view of miles of the Illinois flatland, including, conveniently enough, the Santa Fe main line) in Toluca when I was there in 1995, but it was closed off because they had some sinkholes in it or something. I was bummed.
