Interesting, later on GC became largely a mail train with lots of head end when lost ended up as couple of coaches.

Beautiful shot. I just wonder if this train was on as fast a schedule as the Chief? I don’t know if they had a Suoer Chief in 1947.. Thanks for posting, George, and happy New Year.

Grand Canyon was the 'maid of all work' when compared to the Chief and the Super Chief. Super Chief was originated in 1937.
