That first car in intriguing. Can’t figure out what it is exactly. Door suggests diner but no stacks. RPO came to mind but no hook. Door too small for baggage.

In addition to the question about the intriguing first car, what's the box assembly for just behind or attached to the lead truck of the tender? Neat photo....long train with no plume. The fireman is keeping a good fire!

My thought is it is some sort of parlor/club car with possibly a barber. and/or a shower. That was prevalent on 1st class trains of this era and would account for the small windows. I am sure it is a car owned by Santa Fe, not Pullman, due to the style of construction.

I think that box is a fairly common thing on Santa Fe tenders, for tool and supplies. I have a similar HO tender in brass that has one.
