The baggage/RPO combine is one of two that the Pere Marquette had converted from diners.

The breath of steam on the older passenger trains was always so cool. The steam heated coaches and diners and the whole train was always so cozy and yes romantic.... it's like the train was alive with us in it. The name of the trains have inspired many a folk of all mixes to see America by train. Don't be late cause we can't wait. Were on time and being late just don't get it. All aboard. Last call. Board ! Wish we could get on this an go. That E-8 sure must be running well as it is the only power on the train. Traverse City is way up N on the W side of the state with Lake Michigan just a tad bit to the west. Thanks, Roger. The SP 4449 steam engine was up from Portland and I took my father down to the King St. Station to have a up close look at it and gave him some space and me on one side and him on the other well as I came around the front a bunch of steam cloud came out of the locomotive aka the 'Iron Horse and here comes Dad with this big ole grin outta the cloud of steam and after asking him if he is OK he said to me... 'I think that engine likes me'. Had me cracking up. My dad loiked trains tue.
