Wonderful photo, Bob, and I share your sentiment. However, since Ed Dickens has since gotten rid of the 4-6-6-4 Challenger No. 3985, I doubt we'll ever see her on a mainline like this ever again. I understand the museum she was sent to is planning on restoring her to operation again, but they probably won't be able to run her on any Class-1 mainline anywhere.

Thanks, Dana. Yes, it would be a long shot to have steam on the Santa Train for, say, the 85th anniversary; what with PTC requirements and the railroads' reluctance to host mainline steam. But there's always hope- in addition to the 3985 now being in a restoration shop, we also have the 614 slated to go to the Strasburg's shops sometime in 2025.
