Neat photo, for a while in the late 80's these units where stored on a siding in Oakland near the High st bridge.

I remember reading that on the inaugural run, one of the four suffered a failure and had to be set out. An inauspicious start to their career, and it really was a sign of things to come. The craziest thing was that these existed until 2017, landlock on a siding in Oakland with a private owner trying to get an outrageous price for them on Ozark Mountain Railcar. Being unsuccessful units with oddball engines that had been stored outside for over 30 years and were trapped on a siding with no connection to live rail, buyers weren't exactly lining up for them.
