Fantastic! Thank you, Chris. These had the typical Baldwin trucks, but some of the same model had different trucks. Was Baldwin designing a new type of 6 axle truck then?
Also, this seems such a small fuel tank for these beasts.

The disc next to the headlight was part of the train phone. The disc was the receiver and that cable on top of the hood that sort of looks like a fence was the transmitter.
The Commonwealth truck that you see here were delivered on the early units. They were pretty hard riding. The drop equalizer truck came on later delivered units and offered a much softer ride which was easier on the track and better for crew comfort.

From other photos, that disk may be on both ends, and also only on (some of) these early RT624s and not the later ones with the outside-equalized trucks. Incidentally, no photos I've seen of the later ones show them with trainphones.
