The NW 1218 is pulling a circle trip from Roanoke to Balcony Falls on the C&O, down the James River to Lynchburg, and back to Roanoke over Blue Ridge.

Crossing the James River
Local V90 crosses the James River as it heads north up the old N&W Shenandoah Valley line. The CSX James River Subdivision (former C&O) is directly below running along the north side of the river.
