Twenty years ago today I lost a good friend. The acquisition of Conrail Conrail by both CSXT and NS was a shareholders wet dream and a mixed blessing /curse to the railfans of the northeast.

Shortly after 8:00 AM, NS Train 22K descends the Richmondville Hill grade at Warnerville, NY on the recently-acquired former D&H South End.
The Lackawanna heritage unit rolls a combined 287-23K down the former D&H main. The 23K intermodals are up front followed by the autoracks for 287. NS recently acquired these tracks from CP.
