IC 1038 is up to track speed as it sets its sights on Champaign. The trackage between Effingham and Champaign features many small towns that have deep roots to the Illinois Central.

IC 1038 wakes up the city of Effingham as it pounds the CN/CSX diamond. Right in front of us is Effingham's depot. Once served by IC and the PRR, the depot only sees Amtrak on the CN nowadays.
