MKT GP7 #106 awaiting its next assignment in Waco, TX, September 1976.
A number of these were assigned to PTRA duties in their last days; 106 and 91 wait on air to take a transfer to Pasadena.
As the moon tries to shine through the Houston smog,#106 sits quietly in the Katy yard. This engine was one of 28 delivered between 1950 and 1952. They replaced the last of the MKT steam power.
Privately owned #500 was built in 1950 for the Super Chief as one of the celebrated Turquoise Room - Pleasure Dome lounge cars.
