Coke loads from Monessen head West over the impressive Speers Trestle, spanning between Westmoreland and Washington counties, the Monongahela River, and the overall Mon Valley.
My first attempt at photographing a grain train on the former P&WV was partially successful, the train was found at Monessen but unfortunately it had already outlawed.
This was a great chase, but in hindsight I wish I called in sick to work and continued following the train to Connellsville.

This was one of the nicest lashups I ever saw on a W&LE grain train. Unfortunately, it was also the last grainer that I photographed since this traffic is not currently running to Hagerstown.
