Over eight hours late, and with a BNSF Dash 9 leading, the Southwest Chief heads through Commerce. One of the P42s (113) was "Dead in Consist." When the second unit (116) broke down in route, attempts to start 113 failed. The train limped along with only one P42 working (93), until a leaser SD40-2 (ex BN) was added in Trinidad. Unfortunately for those of us in the LA Basin, that greenie weenie was swapped out at Barstow for this Heritage II homage to the word ubiquitous.
