Remarks & Notes |
Rolling rails since 1901, the Japanese Yawata Works of Nippon Steel continues to manufacture rails to this day using the 1970’s French inspired “Universal Rolling” procedure which rolls the shape of rails in a symmetrical process compared to the conventional asymmetrical caliber process. This gives a higher dimensional accuracy as well as improved surface properties to the rail and allows these types of rails to be used in high speed applications. This product from the Land of the Rising Sun was rolled in June of 2011 and will be cut into two sections for use in an upcoming crossing renewal project ironically to replace the original 115 lb Tennessee USA rail. |
