A moody last day of May, 2009 had begun over in Hinckley with a chase of SAPPI and its batch of GP9s. That afternoon, MD-1 would also run out of Waterville, Maine up the Madison branch to the mill in Madison itself. Much of that pursuit would be spent dodging rain showers as storms kept trying to develop with all the humidity. Following one such rain shower, MD-1 was nearing the end of its trip as it rolled along the side of Father Rasle Road and the border of Madison and Norridgewock, ME. GP9s would only last a few more months before being sidelined for everyday GP40s. 72 had the best horn of them all, a healthy Nathan P5!
