Mike Haverty's Meridian Speedway Extension: We're starting to joke that Mike Haverty has purchased the southern half of the Piedmont Division due to the multiple daily trains with solid sets of Kansas City Southern power. While this isn't actually the case, Inman Yard has recently been leaving the power and first block of cars from trains 220 and 24E on trains 222 and 238, respectively, as it's faster than breaking everything apart just to put it back together.
The sheer amount of KCS power has allowed for some cool lashups to come together, and this time it's a pair of gray AC4400CWs, which are on the point of Charlotte to Atlanta intermodal 221. After seeing a shot of the Southern Crescent taken in 1978, I decided to try this infrequently attempted angle across Peachtree Street from the Southern Railway (now Amtrak) station used by the Crescent. That photo can be seen here.
