Remarks & Notes |
Searchlight Alley. Amtrak P091 sprints south past the rarely photographed signals at South Winston Wye. From here you can see all the interlockings at South and North of Winston Wye. The old ACL signals live on until May of 2018 I'm told. P091 was about an hour and a half late which let the winter sun angle swing west and put nose light on the lead motor. I rented a 150-600mm lens for the purpose of getting this shot. You would have to majorly trespass to get it any other way. 460mm on a crop sensor camera was required. These signals are great to see still standing on a CSX mainline. May 2018 is the cutover date for their replacements. Get your shots while you can of these old Soldiers. |
