Remarks & Notes
Express train steamlocomotive A 3/5 # 705 of SBB Historic, built in 1904 by the SLM, nowadays on long term loan to the steam group Zürich (Verein Dampfgruppe Zürich VDZ), is storming through Germany with a short international express train. Train 5321 from Schaffhausen via Singen (Hohentwiel)/Germany-Ramsen to Etzwilen just passed the border between Switzerland and Germany, which is on the left background of the picture (no visible sign at km post 374.7) between Thayngen and the stop of Bietingen. The line between Schaffhausen and Singen is operated by the Deutsche Bahn and was electrified in 1989. Between Schaffhausen and the border Switzerland/Germany near Thayngen, the line is owned by the german Bundeseisenbahnvermögen, from there to Singen (Hohentwiel) by the DB Netz AG. Here, the train is operating under the IGE railway of Germany. Organized was the trip by RailEvent of Frauenfeld, and operating in Switzerland under TR Trans Rail AG. From Singen to Etzwilen, the train ran over the former SBB line (built by the Schweizerische Nationalbahn in 1875), which was never electrified and shut down in 2004. Since august 2020, the 13,3 kilometer long line is opened again between Singen and Etzwilen, owned by the foundation Museumsbahn Stein am Rhein – Etzwilen – Hemishofen – Ramsen & Rielasingen – Singen (SEHR & RS).
