| In January 2024, the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) will only be open to traffic for a few weeks with significant restrictions. The railway undertakings (RUs) must therefore ensure that their drivers have the necessary route knowledge for the old mountain route. For this reason, Widmer Rail Services (WRS) ran an empty train from Birsfelden port to Chiasso Smistamento over the mountain route on 27 July 2023. This train with the SYNOPSIS advertising locomotive Re 430 114 (former VHB Re 4/4 III 141) could be photographed at the well-known location in Wassen. |
