As the sun appears over the San Bernardino Mountains, Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway train Q-NYLA (Quality Network [TOFC/COFC]; East Coast [CR Connection in Chicago] to Los Angeles CA) arrives in San Bernardino with the railway’s first two GP60Ms on their inaugural run across the Santa Fe, and a crew change is about to take place. The power for this train is ATSF GP60M 100, FP45 96, FP45 92 and GP60M 101 – all in the classic red and silver "Superfleet" paint scheme.
On an adjacent track Amtrak 3, the westbound Southwest Chief, also heading from Chicago to Los Angeles, is also making a crew change before heading to LA Union Station. (San Bernardino, California – May 22, 1990)
